Tiger Watercolor

After finishing the Red Bow at Christmas, I didn’t know what I should try to paint. One of my Malaysian friends suggested a tiger for this Chinese New year. I was excited about the possibility!

As usual, I looked up facts about the tiger. I want to know about the subjects of my paintings. The tiger is the largest cat. He is extremely fast, strong, and independent. Young tigers only remain with their mother about 2 years and then search out their own territory for life. They have adapted well to a very broad range of climates all over Asia. Then I looked up the Chinese characteristics for the tiger. They were bravery, strength, and the ability to fight off evil.

This is my prayer for each of us in this year of the Tiger. Heavenly Father, work in each of our lives. When we feel weak, strengthen us. When we need to change, help us be adaptable. In the face of hardship, show us Your resourcefulness. When evil rises up in front of us, give us the ability and wisdom to fight off evil. We commit our lives to knowing You better and to boldly do Your will. Amen.

Happy Chinese New Year! Be blessed in this Year of the Tiger!
