I sketched along with Barbara Delorenzo from the Princeton University Museum of Art for an hour. The Three Pears is a painting by Paul Cézanne that the Museum had just obtained. The exercise was to make a sketch in colored pencils. I did it without any tracing or measuring, but solely with hand and eye. The colors were basically how he painted it. The tablecloth design is just my sketchy version of the print. But I really liked it! For some reason, I felt totally satisfied with this loose simple sketch. Now I’m looking for other subjects like this to do in this manner.
