We were all amazed to find the Columbine in Utah. Even our son, Mike, who spent a lot of time in the Colorado Mountains, had never seen this variety of Columbine. It was a beautiful, pale flower. I wanted to paint a background because the pale flower would get lost on white paper. I painted the background and then the flower. This was the result. It is pretty in digital format, but once framed it looked like a nearly blank sheet of paper. I tried to paint a darker background around it, but it was totally ugly. So, you get the pretty first version to see.
