This Pink Cosmos is part of a refresher course I’m taking on painting realistic flowers in watercolor. Although the petals are detailed, the center is the part most complicated to paint. A lot goes into showing the center of this flower as a tight knit mound of pistils surrounded by numerous stamen. All that gorgeous yellow draws the bees and butterflies for pollination. What fun it is for me to look so carefully at flowers we usually see at a distance.
